Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will appoint 4,623 candidates across 27 departments on Thursday. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will personally attend the appointment fair and distribute the appointment letters at a grand Nijukti Mela to be held at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
According to reports, this will be the first job fair of the year 2026 and the 15th such employment drive organised under the BJP-led government in the state. The School and Mass Education Department will receive the highest number of appointments with 4,113 posts. Similarly, 154 appointments will be made in the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department, 143 in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department, 77 in the Steel and Mines Department, 70 in the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department, 52 in the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, and 14 in the Skill Development Department. The remaining appointments will be distributed among the other departments.
It may be recalled that the state government had last given appointments to 1,543 persons in 11 departments on December 30, 2025. Till December last year, the government had already appointed 39,459 people. With Thursday’s fresh recruitments, the total number of people appointed by the government in the last 22 months will cross 44,000.
