Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will go to Malkangari on Thursday to review the damages caused by flash floods due to incessant rains in the region this week. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari will accompany the Chief Minister during his visit to Malkangiri.
The security arrangement has been beefed up in Malkangiri in view of the Chief Minister’s visit.
Majhi will travel to Malkangiri by helicopter from Bhubaneswar and return to the capital after reviewing the flood situation at around 3.00 pm.
It is worth mentioning here that torrential rains due to a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal caused extensive flooding in Malkangari. While the flood situation is gradually improving, the Chief Minister will review the extent of damages and how the flood situation is being dealt with in the district.
The state government had appointed two senior officials to monitor the flood situation in Malkangiri. Both were constantly reviewing the flood situation. Besides, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) and Revenue Minister were also monitoring the flood situation.
