Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi offered prayers to Lord Shiva on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, seeking his blessings and presence.
Addressing a cultural event at the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, Majhi emphasized the significance of the temple as a symbol of Odia spirituality and tradition. “The core of Odia culture is rooted in Jagannath, Shiva, and Shakti worship,” Majhi said, highlighting the temple’s importance alongside the Jagannath Temple. Besides, Majhi also spoke about the significance of the Mahadeepa darshan.
During the cultural event, organized by Ekamra Sanskrutika Prakashani, Majhi announced plans to develop spiritual tourism centres in the state, including Puri’s Shri Khetra, Konark’s Arka Khetra, and Bhubaneswar’s Ekamra Khetra.
Majhi said the first phase of Ekamra Khetra’s development will begin soon with Rs 180 crore investment, followed by a Rs 150 crore second phase focusing on Bindusagar’s development and an interpretation centre. The total Rs 330 crore investment aims to enhance Ekamra Khetra’s infrastructure and beauty, boosting tourism in the region.
On the occasion of Mahashivratri, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi thanked the Lingaraj temple servitors for ensuring smooth rituals at the Lingaraj Temple.
Speaker of Odisha Legislative Assembly Surama Padhy said the Mahadeepa of Lord Lingaraj illuminates the path of progress for all.
On this occasion, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan thanked the servitors and district administration for ensuring smooth rituals at the Lingaraj Temple on Mahashivratri.
Besides, Majhi honoured notable individuals, including renowned singer Nitin Mukesh and other artists from outside the state, for their contributions in various fields.
Former Minister and Ekamra Sanskrutika Mancha President Suresh Kumar Routray, Ekamra-Bhubaneswar MLA and Vice President Babu Singh, senior leader and Vice President Sameer Mohanty, Secretary Sanat Mishra, and members of Ekamra Sanskrutika Mancha attended the event.
