Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met Lingaraj temple servitor who had sustained injuries while raising Mahadeep atop the ancient Shiva shrine as part of Maha Shivaratri celebrations on Wednesday night.

According to reports, the mishap happened around 10:30 PM on Wednesday, when the servitor fell while climbing the temple with the Mahadeepa. However, another servitor quickly took the Mahadeepa and successfully placed it atop the temple at 10:40 PM, marking the culmination of the day-long spiritual event.

Expressing concern over the mishap at Lingaraj temple, CM visited the Capital Hospital where the injured servitor is undergoing treatment and inquired about his health condition. CM Majhi, however, ensured that he would receive good treatment on priority. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured servitor.

Taking to X handle, CM Majhi wrote: “I met the injured servitors who met with an accident during the Lingaraj Temple Jag Yatra and are undergoing treatment at the Capital Hospital and inquired about their health condition. Steps are being taken to provide good treatment to all the injured servitors on priority. I pray to the Almighty for their speedy recovery.”

Earlier in the day, CM Majhi attended the Maha Shivaratri festival at Lingaraj Temple. He assured that the government is committed to developing the surrounding areas of the temple and the Ekamra Khetra. The CM also announced plans to upgrade and develop all spiritual sites across the state.

During the event, the Chief Minister said that a permanent mandap will be constructed on the temple premises once the necessary permissions are obtained from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). He also assured that funds will not be a constraint for the development work of Lord Lingaraj.
