Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi today announced a financial package of Rs 50 crore for the development of Maa Tarini temple at Ghagaan in Keonjhar district.

Majhi, who is on a two day tour to his home district Keonjhar, said that he will request to the Central government to accord a national status to the famous peeth.

He made the announcement after offering prayer at the Maa Tarini temple in Ghatagaan.

“My government is trying to promote and develop Maa Tarini peeth at national level. The renovation of the shrine is underway at Rs 50 crore sanctioned by the previous government. After visiting the temple, i realised that the fund is not enough.  Therefore, I announced an additional Rs 50 crore for the ongoing project. The development and beautification project will be carried out at a total cost of Rs 100 crore at Maa Tarini Temple,” Majhi said while speaking to reporters.

The CM held a massive road show in Ghataggan as he visited his home district for the first time after being sworn-in as the chief minister.

He took part in the road show from Ghatagaon High School ground to Maa Tarini temple.

He is scheduled to offer prayers at Sri Baladevjew Temple in Keonjhar town.

On Monday, he will visit his ancestral home at Raikala village where he will have lunch and interacted with his villagers before flying back to Bhubaneswar on Monday afternoon.
