Jajpur/Bhubaneswar: Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday attended the Platinum Jubilee celebration marking the 80th anniversary of PM SHRI High School, N.C. Government High School, in Byasanagar of Jajpur district and announced that all necessary steps for the school’s upgradation and beautification would be undertaken through a systematic plan.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister described the celebration as a historic milestone and said that since its establishment in 1945, the institution has played a pivotal role in shaping responsible citizens across generations. He observed that the school has emerged as a strong pillar of education in Jajpur district and has written a golden chapter in the region’s academic landscape.

Expressing satisfaction over the school’s inclusion under the PM SHRI scheme, Majhi said it is being transformed into an ideal institution equipped with modern infrastructure, digital classrooms and smart education facilities. He noted that the school is poised to become a model institution offering quality education while ensuring the holistic development of students.

Stressing that education is not merely about securing marks or employment, the Chief Minister said its true purpose lies in character building and imparting essential life skills. Referring to the National Education Policy 2020, he emphasised the need to nurture creativity, skills, decision-making ability and problem-solving capacity among students. He remarked that self-confidence is the key to success and urged students to dream big while adopting “duty, dedication and sincerity” as guiding principles in life.

With the Matric examinations approaching, Majhi extended his best wishes to students and advised them to prepare with patience rather than pressure. Drawing inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s interactive initiative Pariksha Pe Charcha, he said consistent effort is essential for success and that failure should be seen as a stepping stone towards achievement.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening the education system, the Chief Minister said the state has accorded top priority to education with the highest budget allocation. He highlighted that ‘Shishu Vatika’ has been introduced in 45,000 schools to strengthen early childhood education, while secondary schools are adopting aspirational curricula, project-based learning and coding skills. He further stated that ₹12,000 crore is being invested in the first phase of the ‘Godabarish Mishra Ideal Primary School Yojana’ to construct 2,200 ideal primary schools and that a heritage school scheme has been launched for the development of institutions that are over 100 years old.

Assuring students and parents of continued support, Majhi said that building a prosperous Odisha depends on providing quality education and opportunities to its children. He expressed firm confidence that the state’s future prosperity will be shaped by its young generation.

The programme was attended by MP Rabindra Narayan Behera, MLAs Akash Das Nayak, Himanshu Shekhar Sahu and Amar Nayak, school headmaster Laxmidhar Dehury, Alumni Association President Kripasindhu Sahu, Working President Rasananda Mohanty, General Secretary Abhilash Das, members of the former students’ association, teachers and a large number of students and citizens.
