Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the Annual State-Level Flower Exhibition at the Regional Plant Resource Centre (RPRC), Ekamra Kanan, on Sunday. Organized in collaboration with the Plant Lovers Association, the exhibition will run for five days, from January 7 to 11, and features participation from over 70 institutions across the state.
During the inauguration, CM Majhi remarked that flowers play a significant role in Odisha’s social, cultural, and spiritual life. “Flowers symbolize unblemished hearts, peace, and faith. Their delicate beauty has captivated humanity since the dawn of creation. This exhibition is a testament to nature’s unmatched artistry,” he said.
Highlighting the global significance of the event, the Chief Minister noted that international delegates attending the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conclave would visit the exhibition, expressing confidence that they would be mesmerized by its vibrant displays.
The exhibition showcases a variety of cut flowers, bonsai, orchids, and themed gardens, along with cultural performances including Odissi, Chhau, Sambalpuri, and Paika dances. A new gate complex, a multi-colored garden, and a cactus house were also inaugurated as part of the event.
To recognize excellence in various categories, an award ceremony has been organized for the participants. The Chief Minister unveiled the Annual Research Report of the RPRC for 2024-25 and the latest edition of the magazine Sabujima, published by the Plant Lovers Association.
Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia, Minister of Forests, Environment, and Climate Change, attended as the guest of honor, along with prominent officials including Satyabrat Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary of the Forest and Environment Department, and Suresh Kumar Pant, Chief Executive Officer of the RPRC.
The Chief Minister extended his gratitude to plant enthusiasts and encouraged everyone to develop a deeper respect for nature’s unique gifts. He emphasized the importance of nurturing love for nature to preserve its beauty for future generations.
