April 7 is celebrated and observed as World Health Day annually in accordance with the aim of World Health Organization (WHO) to discuss health-related issues and to draw attention to specific health issues concerning people across the world.
The date marks the anniversary of the founding of WHO in 1948. The first World Health Day was celebrated and observed in 1950, after April 7 was set aside as a designated date to celebrate the creation of WHO in 1948 in the First Health Assembly.
The theme for this year’s World Health Day is “Our Planet, Our Health”. In the midst of a pandemic, a polluted planet, increasing diseases like cancer, asthma, heart disease, on World Health Day 2022, WHO aims to focus global attention on urgent actions needed to keep humans and the planet healthy and foster a movement to create societies focused on well-being.
