Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who is on a three-day visit to New Delhi, is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday evening.
According to sources, the two leaders may hold discussions on important issues like Awas Yojna, railway and highway projects in the state during their meeting on Thursday. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said that Patnaik has a number of official engagements, including meetings with Union ministers, during his visit to the national capital.
Nevertheless, the meeting assumes significance as he had met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at his residence on Tuesday over lunch. Nitish Kumar had come to Bhubaneswar to discuss the prospects of Opposition unity against the BJP ahead of the 2024 general elections. There are speculations that the Chief Minister may meet some Opposition leaders during his stay in New Delhi.
The BJD, however, claims that it is pursuing the policy of maintaining an equal distance from both the NDA and UPA.
