Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the maiden direct flight service between Bhubaneswar and Dubai at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here on Monday.
The flight will be operated by IndiGo airline and, as an introductory offer, the price of a ticket for the round trip has been fixed at 20,000. A one-way flight ticket will cost Rs 10,000.
The direct flight service between Bhubaneswar and Dubai will be available thrice a week – Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
A total of 170 passengers will travel with a 70-member team of the state government on the first day. Among the passengers are Mission Shakti members, students, and sportspersons.
“Connectivity is the key to development and it has been a focus area of our government. Direct connectivity with Dubai which is one of the biggest aviation hubs will open up a direct gateway to the world. It will provide seamless connectivity and also boost investment in IT, manufacturing, and tourism sectors in Odisha,” Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had said while launching the ticket sale for the flight service, adding, “This is the aspiration of New Odisha and I am very happy to open ticket sales for the Dubai Flight.”
During the ‘Make In Odisha’ conclave in Dubai, the Chief Minister had assured the investors there and Odia Diaspora that the state government would facilitate direct flight services to the Middle East.
