Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday visited a private hospital in Bhubaneswar and met people who sustained burn injuries in the Puri firecracker explosion on Wednesday night. He met the injured patients and enquired about their health. Naveen wished everyone good health and discussed with senior doctors about the medical arrangements in the hospital.
The Chief Minister also announced Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia for each of the kin of those who died in the mishap.
Altogether 36 persons have been admitted to nine different hospitals in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Puri. As per the latest reports, three patients succumbed to their injuries on Thursday morning.
All the patients are provided with the best possible treatment, care, and support. The entire cost of treatment is borne by the state government, including the cost of treatment in private hospitals. The state government has said that ex-gratia assistance as admissible shall be paid to the injured and families of the deceased.
Meanwhile, briefing the media in Puri today, Puri SP Pinak Mishra said that most of the critically injured patients sustained 70% to 80% burn injuries in the mishap.
