Bhubaneswar: On the direction of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the Home Department, Excise Department, and Forest and Environment Department on Wednesday reviewed the cases against the tribals in the state.
It was decided at the review meeting that 48,018 cases related to forest and deforestation in the above three departments will be withdrawn after a thorough examination of the cases.
Among these cases, 36,581 cases under the Excise Department, 9,846 cases under the Home Department, and 1,591 cases under the Forest and Environment Department have been withdrawn. Withdrawal of these cases will also reduce the pressure on the courts and the judicial system.
