Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi returned to his roots on the sacred occasion of Diwali, joining his family and fellow villagers at Raikala village, his birthplace in Keonjhar district. He celebrated the festival by playing madal (traditional instrument).

In a tweet, the CM described the day as a source of ‘immense joy’, recalling how the village’s “great culture, traditions, and warmth” continually inspire and empower him.

“Following traditional customs, celebrating the festival by playing the madal with everyone was a unique experience for me,” Majhi wrote, emphasizing that Deepabali is more than a festival of lights—it embodies Odisha’s rich heritage, Odia identity, and reverence for nature.

He offered prayers to Maa Kali and Maa Lakshmi, invoking blessings for happiness, peace, prosperity and harmony across the state.

“I firmly believe that we all, united in action and by honoring our culture and traditions, will undoubtedly move forward in building a new, developed, and prosperous Odisha,” the Chief Minister added.

“Today, on the occasion of the sacred Deepabali festival, I joined my family and fellow villagers in my birthplace, Raikala village, and derived immense joy. The great culture, traditions, and warmth of this land always provide me with strength and inspiration. Following traditional customs, celebrating the festival by playing the madal with everyone was a unique experience for me. This festival is not merely the festival of lights, but rather a symbol of our rich culture, Odia identity, and our devotion to nature. On this auspicious day, I pray to Maa Kali and Maa Lakshmi that the light of happiness, peace, prosperity, and harmony fills the lives of all people across Odisha. I firmly believe that we all, united in action and by honoring our culture and traditions, will undoubtedly move forward in building a new, developed, and prosperous Odisha” ,read his tweet.
