Bhubaneswar: In a harrowing incident, a venomous cobra was found coiled under the pillow of the bed of a family Haripur village under Baripada subdivision in Mayurbhanj district on Thursday.
The incident occurred while Gadadhar Ojha and his son were resting at home. The child, reaching for a mobile phone under his pillow, suddenly heard a hissing sound and alerted his father who discovered the snake under the pillow.
Upon lifting the pillow, Ojha was shocked to find a black cobra coiled underneath. The father-son duo quickly fled the room in panic and informed their neighbours. The Snake Helpline was contacted, and snake rescuer Krushnachandra Gochhayat rushed to the scene immediately. With expertise and caution, Gochhayat safely captured the venomous snake without causing harm to anyone. The snake was later released into its natural habitat away from human settlement.
Fortunately, Ojha and his family escaped unharmed, thanks to the prompt action and expert intervention.
Experts advise residents to remain vigilant, especially at night, and to contact trained snake rescuers if a snake is spotted in the house.
