Bhubaneswar: Odisha is experiencing a welcome respite from the cold wave, with night temperatures rising across several districts, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

According to IMD, Jharsuguda and Keonjhar recorded the lowest temperature at 13.4°C, followed by Bhubaneswar at 14.4°C. Balasore and Paradip reported 15°C, while Chandbali was slightly warmer at 15.2°C.

The coastal towns of Gopalpur and Puri recorded relatively higher temperatures, with 16.8°C and 17.4°C respectively.

The rise in temperature is attributed to active western disturbances affecting the region. The IMD forecasts a further increase in night temperatures, with a 2-3°C fluctuation expected over the next four day.

Besides, day temperatures rose across Odisha on Monday, with Paralakhemundi emerging as the hottest place in the state at 32 degrees Celsius. At least eight towns recorded maximum temperatures above the 31-degree mark, indicating an early rise in heat conditions.

IMD scientist Umashankar Das said that Paralakhemundi topped the temperature chart, followed closely by Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh, which recorded 31.8 degrees Celsius each.
