Baripada: A cold wave has swept across areas under the Similipal National Tiger Reserve, with temperatures plummeting to 3°C at Upper Baraha Kamuda (UBK) Area.
Going by information provided by Regional Chief Conservator of Forests (RCCF) Prakash Chand Gogineni, UBK has recorded a low of 3 °C, while Chahala recorded 5°C, Ramatirtha recorded 12°C, Kiajhari recorded 13°C, Satkosia recorded 12°C, and Gurguria recorded 7°C. The humidity levels are at 06%, 25%, 85%, 84%, and 84% in different areas. The temperature readings were recorded on Friday at 6 am.
However, there has been no rainfall in the region. The cold wave is expected to continue, with temperatures likely to remain low in the coming days.
Meanwhile, locals and wild animals are struggling to cope with the chilly weather.
