College Boy Ends Life Over Suspected Online Gaming Addiction In Balasore

Balasore: A 17-year-old college boy died by hanging himself inside his house after being trapped in suspected online games at Arada village under Soro police station in Balasore district on Saturday.

The deceased, identified as Ashish Kumar Malik (17), was a second-year student of Anantpur Saraswat College. After returning from college on Friday, he entered his room and locked it from inside. His family members sensed trouble after he didn’t respond for a long time.

Later, family members and villagers broke open the door only to find him hanging from the ceiling.

He was immediately brought to Soro Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Meanwhile, Soro Police reached the spot and seized the body after registering a case. Police handed over the body to family members after post-mortem.

An investigation is underway to ascertain the reason of the death, police said.

Family members said he engaged himself in online games.
