Bhubaneswar: Principal Secretary of Commerce and Transport Department Usha Padhee visited the State Transport Authority (STA) today and reviewed the functioning of various ongoing initiatives under the Transport Department.

During the visit, Padhee held detailed discussions with the officers and staff of the Authority, focusing on the effective implementation of the OTS scheme for simultaneous payment through e-challan. She instructed officials to ensure that the scheme reaches the public in an efficient, transparent, and user-friendly manner so that more citizens can benefit from it.

She also underlined the importance of leveraging technology for improved service delivery and public convenience.

The Principal Secretary stressed that road safety remains a top priority for the Department. She advised officials to work collectively and proactively to reduce road accidents through awareness drives, strict enforcement, and the adoption of innovative safety measures. “Every small step in enforcement and awareness can save lives — it is our shared civic duty to ensure safer roads for all,” she remarked.

Padhee further motivated the officers and employees to perform their duties with enthusiasm, integrity, and a sense of public service, highlighting that teamwork and dedication are essential to achieving the Department’s goals.

State Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur and other senior officials of the STA were present during the visit.
