Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Friday arrested three more persons, including a young couple, for allegedly demanding Rs 200 each for the application form and registration for the Subhadra Yojana in Bhubaneswar.
The arrested couple has been identified as Sasmita Jena and her husband Ranjit Jena from the Chandrasekhapur area. The couple operated a Jana Seva Kendra in Chandrasekhapur and allegedly demanded Rs 200 from each applicant for the Subhadra Yojana application forms.
On being informed, Chandrasekharpur police arrested the couple and forwarded the duo to court.
The police also arrested a Jana Seva Kendra employee in Kharvela Nagar for selling Subhadra application forms without authorisation. The forms are meant to be distributed free.
Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh said that they received a complaint on Thursday alleging that a couple running the Jan Seva Kendra in Chandrasekharpur was demanding money from the applicants for each application form. The Chandrasekhanrpur police have arrested the couple and registered a case against the due under Sections 31 (A), 296, 132, 3(5) BNS.
The police received another complaint from Kharvela Nagar where an Jana Seva Kendra was illegally demanding money and selling the forms. The accused Ratikanta Sahu has been arrested.
