Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police conducted surprise raids on various nightclubs and bars in Bhubaneswar on Saturday night for allegedly flouting norms. According to reports, the raids are a part of the Commissionerate Police’s ongoing ‘safe city’ drive.
Three platoons of police forces along with a special squad of the Commissionerate Police conducted the late-night raids at several night clubs and bars in the Chandrasekharpur, Infocity, and Patia areas in Bhubaneswar for allegedly operating beyond the specified time limit and openly flouting the sound limit norms.
It has been alleged that the bars and nightclubs continue to operate beyond the specified timings in different parts of the city despite several warnings by the police.
The nightclubs and bars were also found openly violating the terms and conditions of the Excise Department. Many youngsters were spotted in an inebriated state and dancing in nightclubs beyond the stipulated time.
However, no one has been arrested in this connection so far.
According to the police, more such raids will be conducted soon and action will be taken against the nightclubs and bars that were found violating the norms.
