Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today held an emergency meeting chaired by Commissioner Dr. S. Dev Datta Shing at the Commissionerate Police headquarters to review crime trends and assess the law-and-order situation. The meeting focused on enhancing policing effectiveness.

The Commissioner emphasized that all IICs must ensure active patrolling, blocking, and thorough checking in their respective areas, with visible policing at all important locations.

Local police must respond to incidents promptly and take immediate action through effective policing. Motor vehicle checking must be carried out stringently, ensuring erring individuals and traffic regulations are strictly enforced. The police must promptly report potential incidents to ensure better supervision and investigation.

Any offences against women, no matter how minor, must be handled with utmost care and urgency. Cases of ragging in educational institutions must be addressed without delay. Drives against drugs must be intensified, with thorough investigations to identify sources of procurement and key individuals involved.

Additional CP Dr. Umasankar Dash stressed the importance of maintaining records, such as OCPO, Hazira monitoring, and tracking of recently released bail persons. The Commissioner of Police assured that these measures will be strictly implemented to enhance public safety and maintain law and order.
