Bhubaneswar: Manmath Routray, younger son of Jatni MLA Suresh Routray, joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) at a mega Mishrana Parba at the Shankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
Manmath arrived at the BJD headquarters here in a procession and joined the regional party ahead of the 2024 general election in the presence of BJD leaders Manas Mangaraj and Sasmit Patra.
Manmatha had quit his job as a pilot in Air India to join politics in January last year. His father had then said that Manmath would contest the Jatni Assembly seat on a Congress ticket but Manmath said otherwise
Talking to the media today, Manmath said, “I have many aspirations, and there is much work to be done. Our family has a tradition of being closely connected with the people. Although my father allowed me to join the BJD with a heavy heart, we understand the importance of embracing change.”
