Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of Congress workers led by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Sarat Patnaik staged a mass demonstration in front of the Raj Bhawan here.
Congress workers including members of its various frontal wings took part in the mass demonstration protesting against BJP’s vendetta politics and police atrocities at the party’s headquarters in Delhi.
Leaders condemned the Enforcement Directorate’s interrogation of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
“We strongly condemn the manner in which Delhi police forcibly entered Congress headquarters at 24 Akbar Road and did not allow party office bearers and workers from entering it. This was never seen in independent India. The Delhi police imposed section 144 in front of the Congress headquarters and did not allow office bearers from entering the premises and those who protested were charged with batons,” said OPCC president Sarat Patnaik speaking to the media in front of the Raj Bhawan.
The OPCC president decried the questioning of former Congress president and MP Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
He alleged that the dictatorial BJP government of Narendra Modi at the Centre has been using the CBI, IT and ED to defame the opposition and tarnish its image, especially of the Congress and the Gandhi family in the public eye.
He accused the government at the Centre of indulging in diversionary tactics-of diverting people’s attention from real issues of price rise, etc.
Patnaik informed that on June 17 (tomorrow) all district Congress committees will peacefully demonstrate in front of Central government offices at district headquarters towns to protest against the atrocities of Delhi police and vendetta politics of the Centre which is using Central agencies to harass and defame the opposition.
