Keonjhar: A constable was found dead in a pond in front of Nandipada police station in the district Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Pradeep Nayak of Harichandanpur area in the district. He was posted as a constable at the police station and residing in the barrack.
According to reports, Nayak went missing last evening. Though his colleagues searched for him at various places, but in vain.
His body was found floating in the pond, this morning. On being informed, Fire Services personnel reached the spot and fished out the body from the pond.
The body was later sent to the Anandpur Hospital for post-mortem. The reason behind the death was yet to be ascertained.
Nayak had taken leave from duty and gone to his village for five days. He returned and joined the duty yesterday, reports stated.
