Bhubaneswar: With the third session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly commencing on February 13, Speaker Surama Padhy has set the tone for a productive session.
Talking to the media, Padhy emphasized that constructive suggestions from opposition parties will be welcomed, while disruptions or obstructions will not be tolerated.
“The ruling party will present the budget. If the opposition parties have any constructive suggestions, they will be acceptable. However, if the opposition parties create a ruckus or obstruction, it will not be tolerated in the Assembly session. The opposition parties should play a constructive role and provide suggestions. There is still time and an all-party meeting will be called soon. However, the date has not been finalized yet,” said the Speaker.
“The Odisha Legislative Assembly’s session will commence on February 13, with the Governor’s address scheduled for the same day. The address will be followed by a two-day discussion on February 14 and 15. The session will have 28 working days, with three days allocated for official business and three days for non-government business,” informed Padhy.
She further stated that the budget will be presented on February 17, followed by a detailed discussion on February 20 and 21. Various standing committees will review the budget from February 22 to March 6. The committees will present their reports on March 7. The General Discussion on the Budget is scheduled to be held in the Assembly on February 20 and 21. The Appropriation Bill will be presented on March 29 marking the conclusion of the budget session.”
About the all-party meeting, Padhy said, “There is still time, and an all-party meeting will be called soon. However, the date has not been finalized yet.”
