Bhubaneswar: The body of a contractual worker of the Public Works Department (PWD) was found floating in a water chamber at CRP Square in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Balaram Gouda.
According to sources, Balaram came to the water chamber to carry out some maintenance work at 4 pm on Thursday. As he delayed to return the office in the evening, his colleagues telephoned his family members to know about his whereabouts. However, they were taken aback to find that Balaram was not there at home.
Balaram’s colleagues found him floating in the water chamber following a frantic search.
His colleagues brought Balaram to Capital Hospital, but he was declared dead by doctors.
Meanwhile, Balaram’s family filed a complaint with Capital police seeking an investigation into the mysterious death of Balaram.
Meanwhile, police fished out the body and sent it for post-mortem.
