Bhubaneswar: A cooperative policy is expected to be finalised by January 31 next year. The policy aims to establish cooperative societies in every panchayat, offering a range of services, including LPG gas distribution, medicine shops, petrol pumps, public service centres, dairy farms, and milk distribution centres.
Odisha Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta, who attended a meeting of Cooperation Ministers of all states chaired by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, informed about this.
The meeting focused on the development of cooperative societies and future programs. Minister Bal Samanta said that the cooperative societies will prioritise service over profit, providing convenience to people at their doorstep.
Amit Shah has directed state-level meetings to be held next month to ensure the program’s effectiveness. The initiative also includes plans to establish a bank in every panchayat, offering loans of up to Rs 5 lakh with a subsidised interest rate.
The interest rate percentage is yet to be decided. Regarding the chit fund issue, Minister Bal Samanta assured that depositors would receive their money after verification. He stated that depositors with claims up to ₹5 lakh would receive their full amount.
