Bhubaneswar: The counting and inventory of the valuable items in Ratna Bhandar will commence once the repair work of the treasure trove is complete, informed Justice Biswanath Rath who heads the committee on Puri Jagannath temple’s Ratna Bhandar inventorisation and conservation.
Talking to the media, Rath said, “The Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the inventory is already in place. Counting and inventory of Ratna Bhandar’s valuables will be conducted after the repair work of the treasure trove is completed.”
He further said, “The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will conduct the repair work of the inner and outer chambers of Ratna Bhandar. The repair work will be done meticulously so that it will not require further repair for 100 years. After ASI completes the repair work, they will hand it over to us. Following that, the inventory and counting of the treasures inside the Ratna Bhandar will be conducted.”
It may be mentioned that an 11-member authorized team, led by Justice Biswanath Rath, entered the inner chamber of the Ratna Bhandar on July 18 and shifted ornaments and valuables from the outer and inner Ratna Bhandar to a temporary strongroom. After storing the valuable items, the doors were sealed.
