Nilagiri: A couple sustained grievous injuries in a group clash at Babandh village in Siadimala panchayat under Nilagiri block of Balasore district on Saturday.
The seriously injured persons have been identified as Sukura Behera of Behera Sahi and his wife Ashamani Behera. The duo has been admitted to Nilagiri Sub Divisional Hospital and is undergoing treatment.
According to reports, today at around 8.00 A.M two groups had an altercation over damage to fencing on a piece of land.
Around 2.00 PM while the children of Behera Sahi were going to play, members of the other group attacked them with crowbars, machetes and lathis at Singha Sahi Chowk of Babandh village. While Sukura Behera of Behera Sahi and his wife Ashamani were trying to save their younger son they fell victim to the attack and were grievously hurt. Locals rushed them to Nilagiri Sub Divisional Hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
Nilagiri police have launched an investigation into the matter.
