Bhubaneswar: Keonjhar Town police solved the murder case of a septuagenarian, a resident of Gambharia village, by arresting her granddaughter and her husband.
The deceased has been identified as 70-year-old Birma Munda, while the accused have been identified as Gangi Munda (35), and her husband, Chhotu Munda (38).
As per reports, the incident occurred late Tuesday night when the couple had a heated argument with the victim, leading to a violent outburst.
In a fit of rage, the couple allegedly picked up the elderly woman and hurled her to the ground, causing critical injuries. The victim died on the very spot.
Upon being informed by villagers, police reached the spot and began an investigation into the incident. A forensic team was also pressed into service, and a case was registered in this connection.
Meanwhile, the body was handed over to the family members after a post-mortem.
However, police investigation led to the arrest of the accused couple, who confessed to the crime during interrogation.
