Cuttack: A woman and her husband were killed while three others sustained critical injuries after a truck hit the auto rickshaw from behind in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Friday morning. The incident occurred near the Bandala Chhak in Tangi area.
Police are yet to ascertain the identity of the deceased.
According to reports, five people were travelling in an auto rickshaw when a truck hit the three-wheeler from the rear near Bandala Chhak. Two people died on the spot while three others, who were critically injured, have been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
All the passengers were travelling from Cuttack towards Chandikhol.
On being informed, Highway police and ambulance rushed to the spot and took the three critically injured people to hospital. The bodies of the deceased were sent for postmortem.
Police have seized the auto rickshaw and launched an investigation into the fatal accident.
