Baripada: A road mishap claimed the lives of a man and his wife after a Scorpio vehicle’s tyre burst, causing it to overturn and collide head-on with the motorcycle they were travelling in on National Highway 220 near Bamansal under Karanjia police limits.
The deceased couple was returning home after a medical check-up at Karanjia Medical when the accident occurred. Both the husband and wife died on the spot.
According to reports, the Scorpio vehicle was moving on NH-220 when one of its tyres suddenly burst. This led to the vehicle losing control, overturning, and colliding with the motorcycle. The impact was severe, resulting in the instant death of the couple riding the bike. Six persons travelling in the Scorpio sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Karanjia Hospital for treatment.
Karanjia police have reached the spot and launched an investigation into the accident.
