Bhubaneswar: A couple died as the car they were travelling in crashed into a stationary truck near Rambhikata under Boudh Adarsh Police Station in the wee hours of Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Raj Kishore Sahu and his wife, Meena Rani Sahu, from Daspalla’s Gania area.
As per reports, the couple was travelling in a car from Nayagarh district to their home after receiving news of Raj Kishore’s father’s demise. They were heading to perform the last rites when the mishap took place. The car collided with a stationary truck on the road near Rambhikata, resulting in the instant death of the couple.
Raj Kishore, a science teacher at Kumurkuri High School in Nuapada district, was going to Gania to perform the final rites of his father Balbhadra, when the mishap occurred.
Upon being informed, Boudh Adarsh Police promptly arrived at the scene and sent the bodies for autopsy after recovering them.
An investigation into the accident is currently underway.
