Electrocution

Angul: In a shocking incident, a man and his wife were electrocuted to death after they reportedly come in contact with a live wire laid out to trap wild animals in Bantala area of Odisha’s Angul district on Sunday night.

The deceased have been identified as Sura Pradhan and his wife Sukanti.

According to reports, the couple was engaged by one Bhabagrahi Dehury in Pokatunga village under Bantala police limits to work in his farm. The man and his wife looked after the kitchen garden in the farm house. Sura and Sukanti left the farmhouse for some work on Sunday night and when outside the couple accidently stepped on a live wire laid by poachers to hunt wild animals.

As neither of them returned to the farmhouse late in the night, local villagers searched for their whereabouts but could not find them. On Monday morning, the villagers spotted their bodies near Raguditaila close to the electric wires.

Sura and Sukanti were rushed to the Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) where the doctors pronounced them dead.

On being informed, Bantala police reached the hospital and sent the bodies for autopsy. The police also launched an investigation into the incident and find the people who laid the electric wire trap.
