Bhubaneswar: The Court of SDJM Bhubaneswar on Friday granted a police remand of three more days for the fake doctor Ramesh Swain who has allegedly duped more than three dozen women after marrying them.
The Commissionerate of Police had moved the court for 7-day remand of Swain, however, the court granted three days to the police. Earlier, the court had allowed the police five-day remand of Swain who is facing charges of fraud.
In connection with allegations of defrauding multiple women, his wives, Swain’s sister was also arrested and the police is also in search of his brother-in-law. Swain was arrested by Mahila police after one of his former wives alerted the cops about his presence in Bhubaneswar.
A special squad is investigating the case and the frauds committed by Swain who posed as a senior Government official and trapped several women into the bond of marraige. Ramesh has also allegedly duped Rs 4 lakh from a businessman of Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, the police added.
