Bhubaneswar: The Additional District Judge (ADJ)-III Court here today rejected the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED’s) plea to take Archana Nag on further remand.
The ED had sought to take Archana, accused of extortion by blackmailing people while running a sex racket for two days, on a further remand for two days.
The ED had made the plea for taking Archana on remand for two more days citing that both she and her husband Jagabandhu were not cooperating with the agency in the investigation.
The ED’s plea was opposed by Archana’s counsel in the court. The court rejected ED’s remand plea and Archana was sent to Jharpada Special Jail.
Archana was arrested by ED on Tuesday under Section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act after producing her in court following the completion of 7-day remand.
The ED had then sought to take her on 15-day remand on the ground that she did not cooperate in the investigation during the remand period.
The court had, however, granted the ED to take Archana on remand for six more days.
