Bhubaneswar: Active Covid-19 cases in the city mounted to 6,492 with reports of 1,148 new positives in the last 24 hours (till 9 AM of today), according to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
An overwhelming majority, 1,094 out of the new cases detected are local contact cases, while the remaining 54 are quarantine cases.
A total of 208 persons recovered from Covid-19 in the city during the same period taking the total number of recoveries from the ailment to 1,23,366.
There have been no reports of fatalities due to Covid during the same period with the toll remaining at 1103.
While new cases have been reported from almost every corner of the city, certain localities reported very high number of cases like Khandagiri (99), Nayapalli (98), Patia (95), Chandrasekharpur (90), Old Town (88), Jharpada (52), and Rasulgarh (43).
