Bhubaneswar: The Central Pollution Control Board has slapped Veer Surendra Sai Institute Of Medical Science And Research (VIMSAR) with a hefty fine of Rs. 11.22 lakh for failing to meet waste management standards, particularly in handling biomedical waste.
As per reports, a team from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) visited VIMSAR as part of its inspection and found several discrepancies in its waste management practices.
The board had issued a notice directing VIMSAR to improve its waste management systems, but it had failed to comply. As a result, the board imposed the fine, warning VIMSAR that failure to pay within 15 days would lead to further action as per the National Green Tribunal’s guidelines.
