Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch has arrested another accused in connection with the Odisha Police SI recruitment scam. Surendra Nayak, the owner of Silicon Tech, was apprehended from Lumbini Vihar in Bhubaneswar, marking another crucial step in the ongoing investigation.

Nayak’s arrest comes on the heels of the mastermind behind the scam, Shankar Prusty, being brought face-to-face with another associate, Muna, for interrogation. During the confrontation, the Crime Branch gathered important information, which will aid in further investigation.

Both Prusty and Nayak are set to be produced in court today, where the Crime Branch may seek Shankar’s remand to continue the probe.

The Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) had initially assigned ITI Limited to conduct the recruitment exam, which was later handed over to Silicon and then to Panchsoft. The scam came to light after the intervention of the Odisha Chief Minister office, leading to the Crime Branch taking over the investigation.
