Jeypore: A five-member Crime Branch team led by Additional Superintendent of Police Bijay Mallick produced an absconding accused before the local court here following his arrest.
The accused has been identified as Prasanna Kumar Patra, a resident of Jeypore town in Koraput district.
According to reports, the Crime Branch team reached Jeypore Town Police Station and produced him in court in Jeypore after arresting him. Patra was wanted in a land forgery case registered in 2018. He had been evading arrest for more than eight years. He allegedly forged an order of the Orissa High Court to mislead the court and gain undue advantage.
The Crime Branch team informed that more than five non-bailable warrants are pending against Patra in various cases. After producing him in Jeypore court, the team held discussions with Jeypore Town Police regarding other cases registered against him.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
