Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance today arrested Sub Inspector (SI) of Tamando police station Abhimanyu Choudhury for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 113 percent of his known sources of income.
Choudhury was forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance here which remanded him to jail custody till December 27, said an official press release.
The anti-graft agency has registered a case against Choudhury and his spouse at Bhubaneswar Vigilance police station under section 13(2) read with 13(1)(b)/12 of the PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC (Amendment) Act, 2018.
During house searches of the accused, the Vigilance has unearthed a four-storeyed building with around 10,000 sqft built-up area at Paikanagar here worth over Rs 1.5 crore; a single-storeyed building at Nachhipur in Nayagarh district worth Rs 6.22 lakh; eight plots including seven plots in prime area in and around Bhubaneswar and one plot in Nachhipur in Nayagarh district with registered sale deed value of Rs 90 lakh; bank deposits worth Rs 78.80 lakh; cash over Rs 1.75 lakh; one four-wheeler worth Rs 6.95 lakh; three two-wheelers worth Rs 1.89 lakh; and gold, silver ornaments and household articles, etc worth Rs 15.90 lakh.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
