Bhubaneswar: The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) authority, which operates the Mo Bus service in Odisha, has terminated a driver and a conductor after they were found intoxicated during working hours.
The enforcement team discovered the two staff members under the influence of alcohol during a random check last night.
According to CRUT, both employees were dismissed for breaching essential safety protocols. Additionally, the authorities have recommended suspending the driver’s license for six months.
In a related action, CRUT suspended two more Mo Bus employees—a driver and a conductor—for two months due to indiscipline while on duty.
“This violation endangers passenger safety and goes against the core principles of CRUT, which is committed to providing safe, reliable, and efficient public transportation,” a CRUT statement said.
“We are implementing enhanced safety measures, including random alcohol testing and improved driver training programs, to strengthen safety standards across Mo Bus operations.” it added.
