Bhubaneswar: The four-day custodial remand of the prime accused in Minister Naba Kisore Das murder case, Gopal Krushna Das ends today. While the agency has been able to get crucial leads and evidence in the case during this period, it is very likely that the CB would seek an extension of remand from the court of SDJM, Jharsuguda.
In another development in the high-profile murder case, a team of the CID-CB showed up at Gopal’s home at Ankuli industrial estate on the outskirts of Berhampur town, today morning. The CB team is reportedly questioning his acquaintances and relatives about Gopal’s behavioural pattern and usual discussions, whenever he visited his native.
On Saturday, a week after the sensational firing took place, the Crime Branch examined the residential quarter of Gopal in Budhijam area under Orient police limits in Brajarajnagar. The sleuths stumbled upon a personal diary reportedly belonging to Gopal, which may turn out to be a piece of crucial evidence while framing the chargesheet.
On the other hand, a team of the Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory (CFSL), has arrived in Odisha to help the State Crime Branch in the probe into Minister’s murder. The CFSL team comprising six members landed in Jharsuguda on Friday night.
Das was murdered in broad daylight on January 29, when he was in Brajarajnagar’s Gandhi Chowk to attend a party programme. He was shot point blank by Gopal, airlifted from Jharsuguda in a critical condition and breathed his last in the evening at Apollo Hospitals in Bhubaneswar.
