Bhubaneswar: Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan on Thursday to push forward a series of developmental initiatives aimed at transforming the Cuttack parliamentary constituency into a model region of infrastructure and economic progress.
During the meeting, MP Mahtab presented a comprehensive proposal encompassing civic, cultural, and industrial upgrades.
Key projects discussed included the establishment of a vending zone in the OMP area of Cuttack, construction of a state-of-the-art convention center, and the revitalization of the Ranihat locality.
Plans for a new park at Press Chhak and the integrated development of Satyabhamapur, the birthplace of Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das, were also deliberated.
Further, Mahtab sought the Chief Minister’s intervention on several high-impact infrastructure and livelihood projects, including a drainage master plan for the CMC and CDA areas, a barrage project over the Mahanadi River, and the long-awaited revival of Badamba Sugar Mill and Bhagatpur Cotton Mill. He also emphasized the need for cold storage facilities at the sub-divisional level to support farmers and local businesses.
Chief Minister Majhi responded positively and assured the MP that all necessary steps would be taken to fast-track these projects. He directed departmental secretaries to expedite administrative approvals and remove bottlenecks to ensure timely execution. Majhi also underlined his government’s commitment to collaborative governance, stating that Cuttack and its surrounding sub-divisions should evolve into a modern, prosperous constituency with a strong foundation in both heritage and growth.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Industries Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Saswat Mishra, and Director of Municipal Administration Arindam Dakua, among others.
