Cuttack: In a significant breakthrough, Cuttack police on Monday rescued a 42-year-old man who was kidnapped from Nua Bazar and arrested three persons in connection with the case, Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo said.
The accused include two residents of Bolangir district and one from Subarnapur district.
According to the DCP, the victim, a resident of the Jagatsinghpur Biridi police station area, was abducted on December 27, 2025. Following the kidnapping, the accused demanded a ransom of Rs 2 lakh for his release.
The victim’s family lodged a complaint at Madhupatna Police Station in Cuttack. Based on a detailed investigation, police identified the involvement of the three accused, who had kept the man in different districts.
Acting on credible information, the police arrested all three and ensured the safe recovery of the victim.
“The accused had kept the victim in separate locations across districts. Further investigation is underway and the three accused will be forwarded to court today,” DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo said.
