Bhubaneswar: A near-fatal accident occurred on the Puri-Konark Marine drive when the car driven by Cuttack Sadar Block Development Officer (BDO) Pratik Sahu slipped into the Kusabhadra river near Ramachandi temple. The incident happened while the BDO was trying to park his vehicle on Bela Marg.
As the car was in reverse gear, it skidded off the road and plunged into the river. Fortunately, prompt action by the fire service personnel led to a successful rescue operation. Both Pratik Sahu and his wife were rescued and taken to Konark health centre, where they received primary treatment and were later discharged.
The couple, who were on a holiday outing, had planned to stay at the Lotus resort near Ramachandi. The alert fire service team from a nearby training centre quickly responded to the incident and carried out the rescue operation.
The car turned turtle inside the river, and fire service personnel, with the help of locals, launched an operation to recover the vehicle from the water.
