Bhubaneswar: Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Monday said that the situation in Cuttack is gradually returning to normal after the recent violence. Harichandan, however, appealed to the people to maintain peace in the city.

Talking to the media, the Law Minister said, “I request you all to maintain the dignity of Cuttack city. The situation in Cuttack is gradually returning to normal after the recent unrest. The police are taking necessary steps to address the situation. The Chief Minister has also appealed for peace. We urge everyone to refrain from any activity that could tarnish the image of Odisha or Cuttack. Let’s maintain peace and harmony. The government is vigilant and will take strict action against those involved in such incidents. I appeal to everyone to channel their emotions and energies in a positive direction.”

It is pertinent to mention that the violent clash at Dargah Bazaar during the Durga Puja idol immersion procession on October 3 left four persons, including Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, injured.

Police have, meanwhile, arrested eight persons linked to the violence so far.
