Bhubaneswar: Lalbagh police on Thursday arrested a youth on charges of stealing a silver crown from Lord Ganesha’s idol at a puja pandal in Cuttack’s Haripur area.
The accused is a resident of the Patapola area. He had been planning to steal the crown for some time and finally executed his plan also. Acting on a tip-off by the puja committee members, police launched a search operation and finally caught the accused youth and recovered the silver crown from his possession, sources said.
During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to the crime. The youth is currently in police custody and will be produced in court soon.
