Cuttack: The third day of the Sahitya Sarovar book fair, organized by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation, saw a massive turnout of book enthusiasts in Cuttack.

A seminar was held, featuring prominent personalities like Excise Commissioner P. Anvesha Reddy, Cuttack ACP Ananya Awasthi, playwright Dr. Bijay Malla, and Professor Jatin Nayak.

Speakers emphasized the importance of reading and inculcating a reading habit in children. P. Anvesha Reddy stressed that parents should encourage their children to read at least 10 pages of a book daily.

On this occasion, P Anvesha Reddy urged parents to encourage children to read physical books in the mobile-phone era, saying, “If children develop the habit of reading at least 10 pages of any book every day, it will prove highly beneficial for their future.”

Dr. Bijay Malla praised Cuttack’s literary legacy, stating, “This land is the soil of literature. The banks of the Mahanadi and Kathajodi are beautiful places for literary creation. The Municipal Corporation’s initiative on the banks of the Mahanadi is highly welcome.”Prof. Jatin Nayak highlighted Cuttack’s unique identity, describing it as “distinct and unparalleled across the country”.

The book fair, which will continue till March 29, offers a unique incentive – a free medicinal plant with every purchase of ₹999. The corporation has also set up a book donation stall, where people can donate books for the central library.

The event has been well-received, with visitors appreciating the diverse range of books and cultural programs.
