Angul: A cyclist was run over by a speeding truck near Hemsurpada Street under Angol Town police limits in Odisha’s Angul district on Monday morning.
The deceased youth is a resident of Bimalbeda village under Jharpada police station.
According to reports, the accident occurred on Monday morning when the young man was cycling towards Shimilipada. A speeding truck suddenly came from nowhere and hit the youth killing him on the spot.
Tension prevailed in the area soon after the accident as locals blocked the Hemsurpada Street demanding compensation to the kin of the deceased. On being informed, Town police reached the accident site and appeased the agitators.
The police have seized the killer truck and launched an investigation into the incident.
